Kevin Hogg

  • This is Coach Hogg’s third year with the Team Ontario Astros. In addition to coaching the 15U’s in 2017 and the 17U’s in 2018, Kevin currently has the opportunity to coach his son Michael—a speedy starting outfielder for the Astros 18U squad in 2019.
  • Coach Hogg brings with him decades of experience as a successful OBA coach in Mississauga and Legion coach in Indiana. Kevin’s specialty is developing the skills of young players, and he is a masterful tactician on the field. His work in skills clinics while representing The Dugout and the Team Ontario Astros is renowned.
  • He has been playing, observing, or coaching baseball since the age of five, beginning with his T-ball days at Meadowbrook Little League in Anderson, Indiana. His earliest baseball memory is of catching a line drive as a third baseman that very year, a catch that would start off his baseball career as a league champion. During a minor-baseball playing career that spanned another 15 years, Kevin earned five more championships at various levels, culminating with American Legion baseball. He played every position, excelling as a shortstop, centerfielder, and pitcher. He remained active as a volunteer coach with Erskine Little League throughout his early 20s.
  • Not long after immigrating to Canada, Coach Hogg began volunteer work for Erindale Little League in Mississauga. He spent a decade at Erindale as a coach, director of T-Ball, and Vice-President of Baseball. During this time, he was also the head coach for District teams vying for a spot at the Little League World Series. He also initiated a series of winter clinics and summer camps to introduce kids ages 4 and up to the fundamentals of baseball.
  • Certified by Baseball Ontario to coach at national-level tournaments, over the years Coach Hogg has been involved with Mississauga North, Mississauga Majors, Aurora-King, and Vaughan baseball associations, winning a COBA title and provincial finalist for the Majors AAA Minor-Midget program in 2013. Coach Hogg’s coaching philosophy emphasizes a strong understanding of the strategies and tactics of the game. His strengths are in teaching defensive skill sets and pitching mechanics.
  • Kevin is also an award-winning short-story writer and a published novelist under the pseudonym K. H. Brent. His 2017 novel The Host Rises is an excellent work of science fiction. The Host Rises is available at and I-Universe Publishing.
